The iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06 GHz 21.5 inch with an aluminum body was released in late 2009 and came with two independent processor “cores” on a single silicon chip, a 3 MB shared level 2 cache, a 1066 MHz system bus, 4 GB of DDR3 SDRAM, a 1 TB 7200 RPM hard drive, DVD/CD optical drive, and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics with 256 MB of shared memory or ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics with 256 MB of dedicated GDDR3 memory.
The late 2009 21.5 iMac also has a built-in iSight video camera and built-in stereo speakers. The LED specs boast a 21.5-inch glossy, 16:9 LED-backlit TFT Active Matrix LCD, 1920×1080 native, display with IPS technology capability. This iMac will also come with four USB 2.0 ports, one Firewire 800 port, built-in WIFI AirPort Extreme card, and Gigabit Ethernet, as well as a Mini DisplayPort, supporting external displays up to 30 inch 2560×1600.
This generation of iMac line looks somewhat similar to the earlier aluminum iMac models but the new models have an “edge-to-edge” glass design and a “seamless all aluminum enclosure” whereas the previous aluminum models had an aluminum border around the display and it did not have an aluminum back. The ram capacity in this line of iMacs is 16 GB each coming with four RAM slots supporting up to 16 GB of RAM. All of these iMac models also include an SD Card slot and speakers redesigned for better audio quality.
